Il colonnato dei portici di Via Sacchi
The columns are considered one of the most characteristic architectural elements of the Borgo. Five types of composite columns with capitals at different heights are represented to illustrate and emphasize the diversity present within the same structural function of supporting the arches of the arcade.
The columns serve as a metaphor for human unity amid diversity through variety, both in their capitals and bases, as well as in the distribution and tones of their colors. A similar functional contribution within a variance of architectural details that confer a distinct aesthetic perception and individuality to each column, just as different expressions of human personality, such as hairstyle, clothing, and decorative elements, contribute to cultural identities of a single species characterized by its fundamental
elements of intelligence, creativity, and sensitivity.
The composition aims to induce reflection in a dimension of emotional empathy through the examination of a classical element from the past, with the recognition and acceptance of human diversity against the profound inhumanity of all forms of discrimination and violence based on gender, ethnicity, religion, and culture.
