L’alluvione

The drought in the countryside contrasts with the flooding of Turin’s urban center caused by the Po River overflowing at the Murazzi. Ducks are the only sign of life remaining on the mass of water and debris that relentlessly sweeps everything away.

Turin, a city of four rivers, is particularly at risk of floods, with potentially catastrophic consequences for its fragile urban fabric.

The leaden grayness of the flood sharply contrasts with the dazzling light of the heat, urging even the skeptical observer to recognize climate change as a pressing social emergency. People die both from the absence and from the excessive abundance of water.
